BIKE TRAFFIC SCHOOL
Thank you for your interest in Santa Cruz County's Bike Traffic School (BTS).
The Bicycle Traffic School Program is a coordinated effort involving law enforcement, the traffic court, and the education services of Santa Cruz County’s cycling community to identify and educate cyclists at risk. Bicyclists that are given tickets for traffic violations have the option of attending a class on how to safely use a bicycle in traffic in lieu of paying the moving violation fine. The class is also available to members of the public who want to feel safer and more confident riding on busy local streets.

If you received a ticket while riding a bicycle:
You may submit a request to attend Bike Traffic School and have your fine waived. Click here to view and print the form.
If your request is granted, a court order will be issued by the Traffic Court Judge and a registration form will be given to you. The registration form explains how to sign up and pay the $35 non-refundable fee. Payment must be received within 30 days from the date the court order was given. Class registration confirmation will not be given without full payment. You then have several months from the sign-up date to complete the class.
If you are a member of the public and would like to learn about bicycle traffic safety:
Classes are FREE for non-court ordered members of the community.
